Since the string is so small, do you think it would survive if I cranked it up an octave? Can you tun a Baritone Ukulele to normal ukulele cords Thank You.
I have two really nice baritone ukuleles. Every now and then, that D string just breaks. Both ukuleles, same D string. Any thoughts from anyone about why this happens? I have a violin and mandolin tuned g. D, a ,e. I need strings to tune uke same way. Ive not seen this info. I believe it is possible in the 21st century Anybody know what set of strings i need. Nylon ok. I play in old folks how.
Different instruments helps. Has anyone tuned the baritone DGBD? I have a lot of fun with my Cordoba tuned that way. Baritone ukuleles provide a larger space between the frets making it easier to play for beginners — especially ones with larger hands. As a baritone player with large hands, I can vouch for that. A lot of musicians prefer baritone ukuleles due to their size and loud music projection. At the same time, a lot of them think that they sound awfully similar to guitars.
Therefore, if you want to have a plus-size ukulele but still want the feel of a classic harp-like sound — you should consider alternate tuning such as GCEA. I am a passionate music lover.

Anyway, as always, nice playing Corey, you are a genius! So, Hilo makes some for this purpose, too. I enjoyed them. What did I do? Southcoast Heavy strings tuned dGBE. Yep, re-entrant baritone tuning! Love it! Corey might try it, too. I would like to do it with a low G. You have any opinions of which string I could use to get a low G? Just love this article, thank you. Thanks Ryan, The plain low G fluorocarbon from companies like Worth does well in a regular or light gauge and normal density.
Worked great although the sound was deeper than a typical tenor uke. Not bad at all, though. I was just thinking of trying this.
Seems silly to me, since there are re-entrant sets available for the baritone. The premise is the same. Let us know the outcome if his girlfriend found out that he bought 2 new instruments while she was in Japan.
I see Coolkayaker1 mentions reentrant for baritone. It does sound lovely tuned up. That sounds amazing! I did that when I got my Big Zebra and as long as you don't play in a group you're golden. Baritone is not that much harder than Soprano-Concert-Tenor in C6 tuning. It just takes a mind set to be different.

I hated it. Some people hate those; I didn't mind them. That was probably my favorite. I never bothered to transpose when playing DGBE - either re-entrant or linear. Just play the normal GCEA chords - you're just making shapes to match basically. Joined Jan 13, Messages 11, Points My son has them on his Koloa and they are great. I too am a newcomer baritone, fooled around with tenor for a while and have played guitar for many years. I am getting a new solid mahogany kala and am worried about damaging it with too high of tension as for me it is a relatively expensive uke I eventually settled on worth browns.
